Vinayaka Missions Medical College,
Pondicherry was founded in the year 1996 with the establishment of the
Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical
Educational and Charitable Trust.
The Founder-Chairman, Dr. A
Shanmugasundaram instituted the Vinayaka Mission‘s College of Pharmacy in
Salem, the pioneer institution of Vinayaka Missions.
In the year 2001 the
"University" status was conferred on Vinayaka Missions by The
Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, with the
recommendations of the UGC (Started Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956) as an
acknowledgement of its excellence, satisfaction of the highest level of
academic standards and best infrastructural facilities provided to achieve
pre-eminence in education and by virtue of this recognition Vinayaka Missions
trascended to becoming Vinayaka Missions University (VMU) as the 48th
University in India.
The institute was started with the
objective to prepare the students of the college in both Preclinical &
Clinical knowledge and familiarizing the recent Medical technologies,
therapeutics and emerging trends of disease pattern in the society.

To achieve excellence in education
and to make education a tool for social change for the betterment of society.
Mission:
To spread education globally in the
fields of medicine, dentistry, paramedicine, homoeopathy, engineering,
management and arts & science using the existing resources and technology.
Vinayaka Missions University strives
to spread the cerebral VISION to impart knowledge that is WISDOM which is
achieved in the spirit of UNITY.
Goal:
The aim is to enable them to provide
primary health care and instill the attitude for learning as Medicine is
dynamic subject.
