Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar :- was   established under the aegis of Sri Devaraj Urs learning Trust for backward classes, Kolar. It is a deemed to be campus stated under UGC act, 1956. The college conducts medical courses at under-graduate, post-graduate and post-graduate diploma levels and plans to start doctoral programs in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship program in head and Neck Onco-Surgery. The institution has a unique distinction of official approval by NAAC India and guarantee by ISO 9001-2000 and maintains a high standard in teaching learning evaluation process and the institution has become a byword for quality medical education.

Sri Devaraj URS Medical College

Sri Devaraj URS Medical College located in Kolar is a constituent college of Sri Devaraj URS University. It is the only medical college in Kolar district. Sri Devaraj URS Educational Trust started the Medical College in the year 1986 and it became a Deemed university in the year 2007. The courses offered by the college are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredit Sri Devaraj URS Educational trust and it is also certified by ISO 9001-2000 in 2006 for its Medical College.

Devaraj URS Medical College   Eligibility Criteria

• The candidates applying for UG courses should have complete 2nd PUC or 12th standard or any other equivalent exams with 50% marks.
• The candidates applying for PG courses must hold a  degree with completion of one year internship.

Admissions to PG and UG courses are based on the marks scored in Entrance test conducted on an all India basis. 80% of the seats are reserved for general merit candidates, 15% are reserved for NRI, foreign candidates and 5% of the seats are reserved under the institutional preference quota. Students seeking admission through qualifying exams can use medical entrance exam preparation materials available online to be better prepared and have a good shot at clearing the exams.

·         The Medical Council of India (MCI) recognizes Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, a constituent college of Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research under the aegis of Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust for Backward Classes, Kolar.

·         The college and the University office are located at Tamaka village, Kolar and spread over almost 100 acres of lush green campus. This campus is 75K.M. away from Bangaluru as well as the Bangaluru International Airport. The campus has several buildings to accommodate the administrative, teaching/training, hospital, hostel facilities of The University and the Medical College with a total build up area of 85,000 sq.mtrs. The college conducts medical courses at Under Graduate (), Post Graduate (MD, MS) and Post Graduate Diploma levels and plans to start doctoral programmes in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship programme in Head and Neck Onco- Surgery . The University has also decided to design a revised curriculum for  course within the regulations as prescribed by the Medical Council of India.

·         The attached teaching hospital of the Medical College, R.L.Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre provides secondary and tertiary health care to the rural and urban population of the Kolar district and bordering areas of the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and is also a boon to the victims of accidents on the highway as it has a well equipped Trauma Centre, ICU and scanning facilities of CT and MRI. Its mandate is to develop trained manpower of medical professionals to cater to the needs of the community and provide service to the needy rural population. The University also has set up an OP Unit at Kolar town and conducts committed outreach services to the needy through free medical camps at taluk levels as well as in villages of remote areas.
